Kings Of The Ring

– Continuing with matches taped at WrestleCade FanFest in Winston-Salem, North Carolina from Thanksgiving weekend 2015, we saw some good and bad this week. The opener between Shawn Schultz and Chance Prophet fell flat of any expectations. Emphasis was placed on it being Schultz’s AML Wrestling debut and he didn’t look bad, but there was nothing tangible there. On the other side, we had Prophet who rocked some sick face paint (Insane Clown Posse should take pointers) and a unique, methodical style, but too much of the bout was slow and plodding. No crowd reactions as Prophet applied submissions and Schultz sold them. Also wasn’t sure where Prophet fell on the heel-face scale coming from a first impression. Schultz sold well, but all that build up was for a simple DDT finish? Meh. Commentary sold the lack of reaction as a “stunned crowd” but we just don’t think anybody cared.

Red-Chested Physicality And Trophy Justice

– Like the previous episode, we saw more action from the “AML Wrestling LIVE!” taping at the WrestleCade FanFest in Salem-Winston, North Carolina during Thanksgiving Weekend 2015. Even though turkey and stuffing was all the rage then, it’s still entertaining during the brink of winter’s passing. The opening contest featured “The Ring Wrecker” Vordell Walker (think “angry bald badass”) going against Alex Reigns, who was personable, hearty and tattooed. The action began before the bell dinged, both men trading knuckles in the ringside area getting down to business. This was more about the physical than the technical, as both men practically sold their hearts out. Reigns’ tomato-red chest was an awesome visual, no words necessary to tell us how vicious Walker’s stiff chops were. Reigns put in an impressive showing in his AML debut, but a victory wasn’t in the cards, since Walker delivered a hind leg-esque low-blow out of the Referee’s vision. Given the storyline that Walker was in the midst of an attitude change wanting to get back into the Title picture, him winning this way made sense and wins will say more than anything. His post-match promo exuded confidence and a wee bit of jealousy towards the crowd not recognizing him as real talent compared to others like Caprice Coleman. Good stuff.

All Hail The Greek God

– Even despite its 30 minutes, we dig the sleek, sports-like feel of the company’s broadcast presentation right down to the patriotic logo. This is how pro wrestling should always be presented. We even dug the show’s continuity factor by refreshing viewers to the events that unfolded last episode, when The Heatseekers became the first AML Tag Team Champions by “serving” dirty deeds to The Washington Bullets during intense battle by showing the contest’s final minutes. Of course we didn’t get the excellent post-match promo here, but we appreciate that attention to detail, even when anybody could simply look the episode up on YouTube and just watch it for themselves.
