A Famous Opportunity
– The opening video recapped current storylines – Angelico returned to cast revenge against Lucha Underground Champion Johnny Mundo, only to have a restraining order against him. Cage and Texano battled in a Best-Of-Five Series to determine who’d get Dario Cueto’s “Ultimate Opportunity,” as Cage currently had a 2-1 lead. Jeremiah Crane wanted to get his hands on Mil Muertes, as a way to get back at Catrina, whom was a former love interest. Lastly and most interesting, after weeks of declining Vampiro’s advice, Prince Puma finally listened and paid Grave Consequences. In the afterlife, Vampiro called for him to follow.

A Worldwide Documentary
– The opening video highlighted Angelico’s airborne return as he sought revenge against Lucha Underground Champion Johnny Mundo, who beat Sexy Star for the Title with help from his Worldwide Underground mates, one of which (“Darewolf” PJ Black) lost to Sexy Star after, which earned her a rematch (and bypass the Battle Of The Bulls Tournament) in a steel cage. Also shown was snippets of the Drago-Kobra Moon storyline.

Aztec Warfare III
– Aztec Warfare time’s typically exciting in the Lucha Underground universe. The match, which lasts the whole episode and is the promotion’s pinfall/submission-only elimination equivalent of the Royal Rumble, came at the right time. While the first one set the standard and gave Prince Puma his breakthrough moment, the second one faltered as Lucha Underground Champion Matanza Cueto debuted and destroyed everybody. This time around, Matanza still stood as Champion, but had many contenders in his way. He was slated to start as #1 to defend his belt. The opening cutscene with Lucha Underground Gift Of The Gods Champion Johnny Mundo, Taya and Dario Cueto was a good set-up. Mundo’s narcissism was so strong that he had Taya tape a documentary. Mundo had #12 and bragged to Cueto that he’d win the belt and look to become the first-ever man to hold the LUG/GOTG Championships simultaneously. He revealed his backup plan was to cash in his LUG Championship shot next week. Cueto delivered his best “screw you” to that as he changed Mundo’s number to two and told him it was “Put Up Or Shut Up” time. Made sense for Cueto to do that since Mundo stood a big threat to his brother and we didn’t mind it happening to the rudo Mundo. It was funny when he told Taya to turn the camera off afterwards.

Gravest Consequences
– The opening video featured the Son Of Havoc/Mascarita Sagrada-Famous B/Dr. Wagner, Jr. feud that led to a “Believer’s Backlash” match where any weapon was legal as well as Prince Puma’s challenge for Mil Muertes in Grave Consequences. This seemed to be the culmination of their feud that rechristened this season. Let the fun begin.

Loser Leaves Lucha
– As the title suggests, we were back to fun and high stakes in the Temple. There’d be no other way to have it. The opening video focused on Joey Ryan’s reveal of Cortez Castro to be an undercover cop against Dario Cueto and the “Loser Leaves Lucha” feud between Rey Mysterio Jr. and Chavo Guerrero Jr., as it got to the point where Mysterio couldn’t advance with his career unless him and Guerrero reached a formidable conclusion.

– Based off the opening video, we knew the episode would focus on Dragon Azteca Jr., as he defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr. to get a turn at Pentagon Dark for revenge. Also shown was Famous B’s “infamous” turn on his first client, Mascarita Sagrada, to recruit Dr. Wagner, Jr. as Son Of Havoc was cost an opportunity at big cash because of it. We were reminded that SOH/MS were buddies now. Last thing shown was Dario Cueto, who slighted Johnny Mundo a chance at Championship gold, as his suggested Title shot instead went to fellow Worldwide Underground stablemate Jack Evans.

The Ultimate Opportunity
– Lucha Underground’s third season has been a successful tale of “back to basics” if there ever was one. Highlighted in the opening video was Dario Cueto’s latest “original” concept, the “Dial Of Doom” (we like to call it the Wheel Of Torture) that was designed to randomly select opponents for his brother, Lucha Underground Champion Matanza Cueto, to defend his belt against. Son Of Havoc was the first unlucky victim, as we also saw Dragon Azteca Jr. run off Pentagon Dark when he threatened to break Rey Mysterio’s arm. Lastly, we saw the four-on-four standoff between Lucha Underground Trios Champions Drago/AeroStar/Fenix/Lucha Underground Gift Of The Gods Champion Sexy Star and The Worldwide Underground. Pleasantly, this hour focused on everybody shown there.

Back In Business
– Anybody familiar with Lucha Underground will tell you that when they’re on, they’re on fire. Such examples would be season one and all it entailed. From the rich cinematic cutscenes to the extensive jaw-drop performances in the ring, it was clear LUG was out to change the pro wrestling status quo. Then, season two happened and some of that got lost along the way. Luckily, this was the start of season three and where we already heard rumors that this season got things back “on track,” we’d have to see it for ourselves to believe it. The opening cutscene with Dario Cueto and Councilman Delgado recapped how he got bailed out of jail with his previous charges dropped. He received back his money clip, gold watch, cell phone and a giant key. He had a conversation in a car with Delgado and an unnamed figure who flashed an iron glove (or something similar) and threatened Cueto not to waste his time again. To sum it up, Cueto officially announced that the beloved Temple was back in business. Well by golly, color us excited.

Ultima Lucha Dos Part I
– Lucha Underground concluded last year with “Ultima Lucha,” their WrestleMania, so to speak. In what was originally thought up to the series finale now turned into what should be a yearly tradition as LUG got renewed for a second and third season. With Ultima Lucha Dos now upon us, it was time to get hyped. This episode started the festivities as it focused on the “4 A Unique Opportunity” Tournament, a concept from Dario Cueto that involved Cage, The Mack, Son Of Havoc and Texano. It wasn’t a bad way to use these guys, as they were all in that same “nothing doing” scenario and could easily be pushed to the top of the card with the right timing. This was what the opening video highlighted. It appeared as if ULD would be split into three parts.

The Prince Vs. The Student
– It’s everybody’s favorite time of the year – Ultima Lucha time. At least Ultima Lucha Uno had us that way. Season two has been a mixed bag of ups and downs, but the train’s near a solid stop, it’s up to LUG to take it upon a smooth sail. The opening video focused on Mil Muertes’ “rebirth” thanks to Catrina in spite of King Cuerno’s hunter mentality to take him down and a battle was set for them. Also in that package was highlights of what closed last week’s show – a bold challenge from Prince Puma to Rey Mysterio and Mysterio’s humbled acceptance. Ultima Lucha Dos was upon one week’s wait and the hype was on.
