Moose Blood

– When we last left things with “Delete Or Decay,” it was the Broken Hardys who were left shattered, yet intact. The opening cutscene followed up on this, as Broken Matt Hardy discussed how his “platoon was nearly destroyed” with Vanguard 1 missing, Brother Nero badly beaten, Señor Benjamin kidnapped, Rebecca emotionally traumatized and King Maxel nearly abducted. There was a bit where Matt “rejuvenated” Nero in the “Lake Of Reincarnation.” Can’t make this stuff up, but it continued to poke fun at past TNA gimmicks, notably Jeff Hardy’s heel Immortal persona circa 2011, tacky belt and all. Hilarious stuff. The theme of the Hardys was Matt using Jesus-like healing powers to get his family back to where it was before DOD. We left here with the knowledge that Nero was back. Matt now set his attention to Señor Benjamin. That’s where we’d head to the arena.

Ascension To Hell

– The opening video showcased one of TNA’s biggest draws at the moment – TNA King Of The Mountain Champion/TNA X-Division Champion/TNA World Heavyweight Champion Lashley and how he managed to get his way to uber-gold glory. It questioned what his next move would be, a smart way to look at things.

Game Changer

– Bound For Glory always features some sort of convoluted tournament and this year’s installment wasn’t bad by any means since it featured the right people. It cleverly meshed the Hardy saga with the Ethan Carter III-Drew Galloway feud and The Miracle thrown in there with Moose, his insurance policy, to add to the fun. The opening video highlighted how each competitor made it to the Semifinals of the BFG Playoffs and hyped the bouts of Matt Hardy-EC3 and Galloway-Miracle.

The Final Deletion

– If TNA has done anything right in years, it has actually been the pseudo-cinematic feud between “Broken” Matt Hardy (derivative of his “Big Money Matt” character) and Jeff Hardy. To this point, Matt and Jeff had clashed several times with Jeff getting wins, but now Matt was eager for “The Final Deletion” and it was to take place from Cameron, North Carolina. We had to know what we were in for when we saw an old man cutting a disclaimer promo in Spanish not to repeat what we’d see. The opening video was actually kind of brilliant, as it showed Matt and Reby planning a “fiesta” for Maxel and Matt needed the event documented. It was epic, as the old guy was also revealed to be Señor Benjamin, Matt’s gardener.

Hardy’s Revenge 2016

– Because it’s Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (or Impact Wrestling? No, that’s the name of the television show… Has to be… They never actually call themselves “TNA,” but… eh, never mind), every year we have a situation where Jeff Hardy returns from some kind of dastardly doing by an opponent and gets “revenge” with a main event where he gets said retribution. What great timing this year since he was entangled in a brotherly rivalry with a “Broken” Matt Hardy in a feud that has intrigued and confused us simultaneously. Arguably, we’d say the peak has been the “Swanton from the Heavens,” but things continue because now Matt’s a weird, piano-driven, big-haired maniac. Anyways, the show’s opening video previewed this big Six Sides Of Steel main event between the Hardys.

TNA Slammiversary 2016 Reaction

In the wake of the tragedy in Orlando that unfolded less than 24 hours before the event, sometimes people need an outlet to “get away.”

For some, pro wrestling fills that void.

You’d probably wonder who’d rely on TNA for a stress-free product, but the company has had a better 2016 than 2015.

Where Slammiversary 2015 was known for its “technical shortcomings,” we had a packed card for this year’s and with the exception of a few matches, Slammiversary 2016 would be known for being disappointingly average.

Before The Slam

– With its wacky cinematic elements and paralleled alter-egos, the feud between Matt and Jeff Hardy has been one that while absurd to those outside of the pro wrestling community, is just enough to work within it because of those involved. That said, with the two set to battle at Slammiversary, your guess was as good as ours as far as what’d be the next step in this crazy brotherly chapter. This was what the opening video highlighted, for logical reasons.

Trouble In Charge

– Dixie Carter’s an interesting lady. While we applaud the idea that the show’s “chaos” behind the feud between TNA World Heavyweight Champion Drew Galloway and Lashley prompted her to give the show to someone else for the night, it didn’t make sense. That said, who ended up in charge was okay. We also saw highlights of how Jeff Hardy earned the right to face his brother Matt at Slammiversary, with the storyline focused on Matt’s darker character after Jeff took him out. The last of the highlights focused on the Ethan Carter III-Miracle feud.

May Mayhem

– In a world of goofy episode name decisions, TNA were beside themselves. Who thought up “May Mayhem”? Good lord. On the surface, there was potential. Ethan Carter III was on the last stop on the “Road To Redemption” as he’d battle “dark” Matt Hardy to get the chance to take on The Miracle at Slammiverary. Also previewed in the opening video were an Ultimate X match (for the X-Division Championship we assume) and an Al Snow-Grado match. The latter actually received good storyline support, so not a bad night on deck here.

Farewell Detour

– The time was now for Ethan Carter III’s response after two weeks when the well-received “double turn” took place that gave TNA World Heavyweight Champion Matt Hardy the Title, EC3’s bodyguard Tyrus, EC3’s pride and life and anything else a man could steal from another. While this was a selling point in the show from last week, it was smart to hold off on it for now, building it for a later segment in the show. EC3 still looked himself, clad in a suit and shades, but this was him getting ready to spill his guts.
