Brute Mortality

– Catrina and Fenix certainly have a tangled history. When we thought she abandoned Lucha Underground Champion Mil Muertes for him, everything seemed to come together, before she ultimately sided with Muertes and screwed Fenix over. Sometimes we can’t tell if she still has a thing for Fenix or is simply manipulating him by getting in his head, but the opening cutscene with the two was good hype for the big main event. Catrina kissing him and then boldly claiming that Muertes would destroy him once and for all was like a “hot damn” moment.

Climbing New Heights

– The opening video did a good job of recapping ongoing storylines, like seeing who Marty “The Moth” Martinez’s sister was and why he was obsessed with Sexy Star, with The Mack getting thrown in and the biggies – Catrina looking to get in Prince Puma’s head and granting Pentagon Jr. a matchup against him at her joy, as well as how the ladder match main event for the LUG Gift Of The Gods Championship was formed, with Catrina diverting Champion King Cuerno’s request to fight LUG Champion Mil Muertes to making him defend against Fenix.

Mucho Miedo

– The opening video recapped the storyline between Ivelisse/Angelico/Son Of Havoc and The Trios Champions, The Disciples Of Death, tying Ivelisse into the storyline with Pentagon Jr. and Prince Puma, since Puma saved her from getting her arm broken and Pentagon broke Lucha Underground Champion Mil Muertes’ arm. We’d see Puma and Pentagon fight in the main event. All good stuff here.

New Battles Brewing

– Lucha Underground’s second season has brought us the same elements that continue to make it can’t-miss television; cinema-esque cutscenes, notable names and logical storylines yielded in a believable “universe,” this time with a “darker” temple ruled by the age of death – Lucha Underground Champion Mil Muertes, Catrina and the Lucha Underground Trios Champions, The Disciples Of Death. The opening video to the show seamlessly recapped how we got to this point, with big emphasis on Ultima Lucha highlights, tying in the original El Dragon Azteca’s death.
