Worst Father’s Gift Ever

– Going off the last time we saw The Kingdom on screen, Adam Cole embraced his opponents after the match, which met disapproval from Maria Kanellis, Michael Bennett and Matt Taven. The question was if The Kingdom was still on board with things, as Kanellis joined the commentary team to deny any problems, also picking on Kevin Kelly for “stirring things up.” Bennett/Taven took on the jobber team of Corey Hollis/Jonathan Gresham and while at first, seemed slightly off their game, they recovered by the match’s finish. Hollis/Gresham were treated more than pushovers here, so it’ll be interesting to see if they pick up any kind of a push later on in the year. The overall consensus here was that everything was all well and good with The Kingdom, but it remained to be seen what would happen next with Cole.

General Shenanigans

– When it comes to ROH television, it’s another case of quality wrestling and storylines packed into an hour. Thankfully this time, we got a lot of hype for the Death Before Dishonor XVIII iPPV on July 24. The Adam Page-Matt Sydal match had the storyline background of Sydal looking for revenge after how he lost at Best In The World. With the two heels on the outside, you had to know shenanigans would be had. King Corino did a good job of complaining on commentary about how his son was being taken advantage of and you could feel the blood pressure practically rising. The in-ring action was pretty good with some impressive clotheslines. It was surprising this had a clean victory for Sydal. Nevertheless, had to see the post-match heel attack coming, which set up ACH to make the save and get caught by the chair. The Rite Of Passage on the chairs was a big move. Whitmer/Page are just general jerks, so it really works here. Best heels besides House Of Truth right now in ROH.

An Element Of Lethal Truth

– How nice that we finally got fallout from Best In The World that started with a simple video package of still shots of the Jay Briscoe-Jay Lethal match that ended with Lethal on top. An hour isn’t a lot of time, but ROH always manages to find a way to pace things out to satisfy everybody alike. That said, we have to wonder if the company did themselves a disservice with their taping schedule, as their next iPPV, Death Before Dishonor XIII is in three weeks, which leaves not too much time for a build. The only downside for this show was that besides the DBD main event, we still don’t know the exacts of the card.

ROH Best In The World 2015 Reaction

By Nicholas Jason Lopez

ROH Best In The World 2015Coming live from Terminal 5 in New York City, Ring Of Honor had a lot of eyes on its product, particularly on the best match it could offer – Champion Vs. Champion, as ROH World Champion Jay Briscoe took on ROH Television Champion Jay Lethal, with the winner getting both belts.

This event brought Lethal’s rise to the top of ROH full-circle, as he certainly came a long way since the days of being Hydro in Special K.

Smashburger

– The Addiction promo addressed reDRagon’s title shot opportunity at their Tag Team Championships, tying into last week’s promo. Christopher Daniels’ portion of the promo was very strong with his “You saw what we did to win these titles, just imagine what we’ll do to keep them” line, which was good hype for the match.
